Spruce Up Your Front Door

When trying to add curb appeal to your home, sometimes a little paint is all you need to make a huge impact. Choose a color that will add interest and contrast, yet doesn't clash with the color of your home. Be sure to use high-quality exterior paint for this project. Here's a good tutorial to walk you through the process: www.homeguides.sfgate.com

Cover Up Exposed Foundation

You have options here. You could plant some shrubs in front of it, apply a stone (or other material) facade, cover it with stucco, or simply paint it! There's no right or wrong choice. There are solutions for every budget, just be sure to do your research first. For example, if you decide to paint, you'll want to scrape off any loose, peeling paint, fill in any and all cracks, and use a good quality primer (whether it's mixed in your paint or not).

Hide Utility Panels and Boxes

While we're hiding things, let's see if we can camouflage those ugly utility panels and boxes. Once again, you can be as creative as you like. Install a trellis with some kind of blooming climbing vine in front of it, build your own boxes around them and paint the boxes the same color as your home, or just paint the utility boxes, themselves!
When your goal is to add curb appeal, consider this: a well cared for home almost always has good curb appeal. If you don't want to spend a penny, a little elbow grease goes a long way. Mow and edge regularly, pull weeds, bag yard waste, sweep porches, patios, driveways, wash your brick or siding with a pressure washer or just a regular water hose, clean windows... a tidy looking home goes a long way in the curb appeal department.
